What Is a Kandyan Wedding?
A Kandyan wedding is the traditional wedding of Sri Lanka's hill country. The couple stands on the poruwa, a decorated platform, at an auspicious time called the nekath. Rituals include offering betel leaves, tying the couple's little fingers with a gold thread and the chanting of blessing verses.
Service Description
Kandyan weddings are full of short, meaningful rituals that happen in quick succession on the poruwa. Missing the moment the little fingers are tied, or the pouring of water over them, cannot be fixed later. Our photographer and videographer understand the order of the ceremony and are in position before each ritual begins.
The bride's Kandyan osariya and layered jewellery, the groom's traditional dress, the drummers and dancers who welcome the couple: we capture the details as carefully as the moments.
